How it works

Take a look at our steps below towards rescuing a doggy. Please note that the processes of adoption can vary depending on the rescue organisation.

Filter through all the dogs requiring adoption! To prevent disappointment our search only features search options from dogs currently featured on the site. Explore the options, carefully read the description and details. Is it a suitable dog for your current situation, family and environment? Can you give the dog a life it deserves?

Contact the rescue via the contact card on the rescue organisation’s profile. Many rescue organisations have unique processes in place in order to adopt their rescue dogs. Although often you’ll be required to fill in application forms, arrange to meet the dog and have your home checked for suitability by the rescue organisation or a representative. Talk to the them about the steps towards adoption! Don’t be afraid to discuss the future of your potentially new family member. Neutering, microchipping, diet, behaviour and exercise are all great things to have a heads up on.

If you have been successful and the rescue organisation feels you are suitable adoptees, congratulations, we’re proud of you and thank you for rescuing a doggy!

What to look out for

Rescue organisations will let you know if a dog has been tested with children, cats and other dogs. Ask how they got on during the testing and if you need to look out for anything specific. Initial vaccines will be noted but ask about boosters for older and where they are with yearly injections.
